The youngest of 11 children, CynDiva learned early to use her voice and be heard. Before she joined the family of The Mellow Mix, she used her voice to create beautiful melodies. As a teenager, CynDiva joined classmates from Paul Laurence Dunbar high school and formed a group, Unit Steele. Unit Steele consisted of One MC, A Diva, and a DJ, as Lady C, a young CynDiva blossomed as an artist.
CynDiva’s growing list of accolades include People’s Choice Award winner at 17th annual Billie Holiday Vocal competition. Grand prize winner in the Citypaper.com’s Best of Baltimore (Best up and coming Soul Sista.) “Dominican Idol” talent competition 98Rock morning show. The Rep Yo Grind Awards recently named her “Vocalist of the Year” in Baltimore, MD in April 2015.
The Mellow Mix welcomed CynDiva as a co-host in 2012, after band mate, DJ F introduced her to Shani Elliott. Each week, she gives a dose of wisdom in a segment called, “Diva Said So”. Unit Steele reunited and released their EP, “The Real US” in 2013. As the vocalist of the group, CynDiva sang about devotion in “Superstar”. In 2014, CynDiva teamed up with Knatty 410 to release her EP, “Dreadloc’d Soul Volume 1: Friend Request“ and is currently recording Vol. 2.
